AVENGERS, The | 2012 | 100 | 1 | (full review) |
Captain America: Civil War | 2016 | 100 | 1 | (full review) - Delivering a cinematic showdown for the ages full of superheroes of all stripes, the Russo brothers have put together an instant classic that joins the pantheon of outstanding comic book movies. |
Matrix, The | 1999 | 100 | 1 | (full review) |
Spider-Man 2 | 2004 | 100 | 1 | (full review) |
Captain America: The Winter Soldier | 2014 | 97 | 5 | (full review) |
Matrix Revolutions, The | 2003 | 97 | 5 | (full review) |
Spider-Man | 2002 | 97 | 5 | (full review) |
X-Men: Days of Future Past | 2014 | 97 | 5 | (full review) |
X2: X-Men United | 2003 | 97 | 5 | (full review) |
Doctor Strange | 2016 | 88 | 10 | (full review) - It's a really impressive feat for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be able to reinvent itself year after year and again and again while maintaining consistent entertainment value and a cohesive mega franchise. Boldly dark, reliably funny, and visually inventive, director Scott Derrickson's Doctor Strange takes the MCU in yet another direction and delivers a healthy dose of that rarefied beauty known as movie magic. |
Logan | 2017 | 88 | 10 | (full review) - While I'm not sure quite where it sits on the extremely convoluted timeline of the X-Men franchise, I do know that Hugh Jackman's final outing as Wolverine stands tall amongst his solo outings. |
Superman II (Donner cut) | 1980 | 88 | 10 | (full review) |
X-Men | 2000 | 88 | 10 | (full review) |
X-Men: First Class | 2011 | 88 | 10 | (full review) |
Avengers: Age of Ultron | 2015 | 84 | 15 | (full review) - The film's greatest asset is not the action, the comedy, or even its glut of new characters. It's the villainy. It's Ultron. James Spader's persona reminds me quite a bit of Hugo Weaving's performances as Agent Smith in The Matrix trilogy with an extra shot of menace. Popping up everywhere with money quotes on the inevitability of his peacekeeping mission, Spader oozes with malice in every move he makes and every step he takes. |
Wonder Woman | 2017 | 84 | 15 | (full review) - All I can say now that this moment in cinematic history is finally here is that it's about damn time. Earnest, gritty and glorious, Wonder Woman is the first truly great installment in the DCEU. |
Amazing Spider-Man, The | 2012 | 80 | 17 | (full review) |
Chronicle | 2012 | 80 | 17 | (full review) |
Deadpool | 2016 | 80 | 17 | (full review) - From the outrageously funny opening credits to one of the best post-credits clips in years, Deadpool is irreverent to perfection. |
Matrix Reloaded, The | 2003 | 80 | 17 | (full review) |
Superman | 1978 | 80 | 17 | (full review) |
Incredible Hulk, The (Edward Norton) | 2008 | 75 | 22 | (full review) |
Amazing Spider-Man 2, The | 2014 | 70 | 23 | (full review) |

Man of Steel | 2013 | 70 | 23 | (full review) |
Immortals | 2011 | 61 | 26 | (full review) |
Spider-Man 3 | 2007 | 61 | 26 | (full review) |
Superman Returns | 2006 | 61 | 26 | (full review) |

Wolverine, The | 2013 | 61 | 26 | (full review) |
X-Men: The Last Stand | 2006 | 61 | 26 | (full review) |
Hulk (Eric Bana) | 2003 | 52 | 32 | (full review) |
Daredevil | 2003 | 43 | 33 | (full review) |
Fantastic Four | 2015 | 43 | 33 | (full review) - We spend the bulk of Fantastic Four working our way up to the events on Planet Zero in the Negative Zone. This means we spend the bulk of the film watching a rather drab science project being carried out by a bunch of young adults with attitude problems. |
Green Lantern | 2011 | 43 | 33 | (full review) |
X-Men Origins: Wolverine | 2009 | 43 | 33 | (full review) |
X-Men: Apocalypse | 2016 | 43 | 33 | (full review) - Bloated in its attempt to conclude a trilogy, begin a new one, honor key storylines in past films, and introduce the two most powerful figures in the mutant-verse within a two hour span, Bryan Singer's latest foray into the X-Men franchise is poorly written and poorly executed. |
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice | 2016 | 25 | 38 | (full review) - The greatest gladiator match of all time Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is not. Simply put, it’s not the great answer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. |
Superman III | 1983 | 25 | 38 | (full review) |
Superman IV: The Quest for Peace | 1987 | 11.6 | 40 | (full review) |
