JAWS [HPH2013 Take 4]

Why I chose to include it: Just like PSYCHO did for the shower, JAWS makes many people hesitant to go into the ocean, be it on a boat or just near the shore.

When a gigantic great white shark begins to menace the small island community of Amity, a police chief, a marine scientist and grizzled fisherman set out to stop it.”

Fun Trivia:

While the animatronic shark, “Bruce”, was being constructed, Stephen Spielberg went to see its progress, accompanied by Martin Scorsese, George Lucas and John Milius. While Spielberg was checking out the workings inside the mouth, those friends tried to play a joke on him by closing the mouth… and Spielberg got stuck!

Charlton Heston and Robert Duvall were both considered for the role of Brody.

Many of the Point-Of-View camera shots shown in the film were put in place because of mechanical difficulties Spielberg experienced with the animatronic shark they built – which reportedly sank to the bottom of the ocean the first time they put it in salt water!
